Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is defined by the World Health Organization as all procedures involving partial or total removal of the female external genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical issues. The complications and sequelae of FGM are immediate and long term, negatively impacting physical, psychological, and sexual health.
